BREXIT benefits

But what about all those BREXIT BENEFITS?

The anti brexit brigade have taken to challenging leave supporters / voters with this goading question.

The UK has been out of the EU and past the transition / TCA negotiation period for all of 7 months and they have taken to asking this because they imagine it gives them some kind of upper hand over leave supporters.

They are, of course, not the slightest bit interested in any answer.  What they seek is to draw leave supporters into a place where brexit is up for question and so they can vent their hatred at leave voters.  They think this is somehow a path to "rejoining" 🙄

I asked rejoiners repeatedly for a "positive, upbeat rejoin EU narrative" which they assured me I would get, though I've seen no sign of one.

Here is my standard response, which I will never post to them again.

The UK has escaped the federalising monstrosity that is the EU.

We have escaped:
° Monetary union
° financial union
° fiscal union
° tax harmonisation
° debt mutualisation
° Central Bank (ECB)
° EU Foreign policy (no veto)
° standing military (corollary of foreign policy)
° Anthem, flag
° Euro bailouts
° free movement of people
° CFP (awful)
° CAP (terrible)
° Guy Verhoffstadt, Christine Lagarde, UVDL... that crowd

We escaped it.

In a mere ten years, the SM will encapsulate less than 10% of global GDP.

In stark contrast, the Asia Pacific / Indo Pacific.. The Asian tiger economies are set to dominate the global economy for the next fifty years.

The UK is about to secure FTAs
with New Zealand and India.

Australia and New Zealand are supporting UK accession to CPTPP. They are vital for that end.

The UK has commenced accession talks with the CPTPP.

CPTPP membership will open enormous opportunity for UK farmers, industry and business.

It will also give the UK a strong geopolitical influence in the Pacific rim, to contend with issues raised by China and North Korea.
South Korea is also acceding to the CPTPP.

These countries are preparing and scoping CPTPP accession.

The USA will also re-engage with CPTPP as both Republicans and Democrats are minded to get involved in it. Even Trump said he would reconsider if the UK acceded.

The UK has legislated for the first time in 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀 on such matters as:

° Immigration and social services
° Fisheries management
° Territorial waters
° State aid

The UK has designated 8 Freeports, with more to come.

Under EU rules, UK Freeports withered and died and in 2012 our government didn't even bother renewing the status.

The UK no longer takes rules handed down by the EU commission, be they statutes or directives.

We don't get law that we cannot even amend or scrutinise in our Parliament.

Laws passed in the UK are now entirely in the purview of our own elected government.

We have disencumbered ourselves of a tier of government that is beyond the reach of our electorate to dismiss or bring to account.

𝟰. 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆
The UK has LEFT the EU.
The UK 𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗩𝗘 the EU in 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘁.

The UK is not going to rejoin the EU, 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳.

The UK electorate made their verdict known multiple times. The anti brexit brigade would have overturned that and discarded the ballots to leave the EU.

Had that happened, it would have been an enormous disenfranchisement and many, many people would have seen no option but to act by means other than the ballot to achieve their aims.

Fortunately, the anti brexit brigade have failed, consistently, for five solid years, and continue to do so.

𝟱. 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱
The UK has resumed its seat at the WTO.
The UK has become an ASEAN dialogue partner.

𝟲. 𝗨𝗞 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀
UK is now in control of its own international agreements.
It has made many continuation and enhanced agreements. The UK engaged in forming many of them.
The UK and Canada have committed to negotiate a new, bespoke FTA as early as 2022.
The UK and India have also committed to negotiate a bespoke FTA, ETA - two years, with an interim at 1 year.

There are lots of benefits to Brexit and lots more to come. This is merely a one-pass overview, to date.

I naturally anticipate a flurry of whining, insulting, derisory posts from the anti brexit brigade, about how

"bad" the rollover FTAs are
"bad" the Australia, New Zealand, India, _______ (insert any UK FTA that is / will be negotiated, here) is.
"far away" the Pacific is...
"we could have freeports in the EU" 🙄
And all the other anti brexit piffle they can regurgitate on spec...
Since, in the eyes of the anti brexit / EU sycophants, anything the UK achieves must be "bad" while the EU can do no wrong...
But that is just "par" for the anti brexit brigade course. I have learned, after five uninterrupted years of wall to wall whining and moaning and insults and chagrin and hatred from the EU cultists, to keep my expectations of them, suitably low.
