Councillors have backed plans for the Tees Valley Freeport bid, which would include the Port of Hartlepool, adding it is crucial the town was included.

Hartlepool Borough Council chiefs said, if successful, bringing a Freeport to the region would help attract investment and provide more jobs for people in the area.
